  • The Partnership

Leafield Environmental’s new rooftop solar installation, delivered in partnership with Electron Green, marks a major step forward in their low-carbon operations. Electron Green designed and installed the system to generate clean on-site electricity, reducing reliance on grid power and cutting operational emissions. Together, the partnership strengthens Leafield’s long-term commitment to sustainable, circular-economy manufacturing while ensuring a more resilient and cost-efficient energy supply for the Wiltshire facility; closing the loop with solar.

Energy is a major part of our operating cost, so gaining control over it is a big step forward. This system allows us to keep production running on clean energy, with long-term savings and stability built in. Electron Green made the process seamless from start to finish and we had zero downtime.

  • The Industry

Plastic manufacturing is a vital part of the UK economy, underpinning major sectors such as healthcare, food production, construction and transport. Employing over 170,000 people and contributing around £25 billion annually, the industry supplies everything from sterile medical equipment to lightweight automotive components, materials essential for food security, advanced manufacturing and low carbon innovation.

Yet despite its importance, plastics manufacturing remains highly energy intensive, and UK industrial electricity prices are among the highest in Europe. As pressure grows to decarbonise while staying competitive, onsite renewable energy has become a proven way for manufacturers to cut emissions, stabilise operating costs and strengthen long-term resilience. Here, Leafield lead by example.
