Urban Logistics worked with Electron Green to manage the entirety of this pilot scheme from planning through to selection and installation to unlock the significant benefits of rooftop solar for all stakeholders.

Years.com is an innovative player in the dog food industry, dedicated to enhancing the health and happiness of dogs with fresh, tailored meals delivered straight to customers' doors. Years.com is committed to sustainability, however high demand and continuous production cycles mean that Years.com still faces significant energy consumption, much like any other industrial kitchen. Typical commercial cooking appliances in their facilities consume considerable amounts of electricity, significantly impacting operational costs.
More Years' landlord, Urban Logistics, provided a solar PV system for their building, specified and installed by Electron Green. This solar installation will enhance the sustainability of the factory premises while cutting electricity costs and meeting net zero targets. The installation process was completed within 6 weeks without any disruption. This installation, projected to generate 146,868 kWh in its first year of operation, helps More Years become more energy-efficient saving 69 tonnes of carbon over the next 25 years, all while significantly reducing their grid demand by 26%.
In the UK, our pets are integral to family life, with nearly 40% of the population, owning at least one. Dogs are the most popular among them and keeping them healthy is crucial, however dog food manufacturing has a big carbon footprint. Typical commercial cooking appliances consume significant amounts of energy due to their high-demand food production cycles. By adopting a retrofit rooftop PV system, More Years can significantly reduce these emissions, enhancing their sustainability credentials without compromising the high standards of their fresh dog meals.
