"We've been thinking of solar for the last 10 years, but capital has always been restrained. The structure of the commercial arrangement with Electron Green; having no capital outlay and then the option to buy the system if we want to, was really beneficial to us. Installation was really quick, it was an absolute win-win and we can now say our product is 0% ABV, 100% renewable - if we had more roof space, we'd put more on."

  • The Industry

In the UK, drinking habits are changing, over 25% of adults now choose No & Low alcohol alternatives. In pubs, many don’t want a soft drink or water, rather they’re looking for the same experience associated with their favourite brands just without the alcohol. As demand for alcohol-free options continues to rise, so too does the need to produce them at scale.

However, the brewing process remains energy-intensive. The alcohol industry contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, with the UK malting sector alone responsible for around 300,000 tonnes of carbon equivalent emissions annually, primarily due to the use of gas, oil, and electricity.

By retrofitting their site with a rooftop solar PV system, Bevisol is taking a vital step toward decarbonising production. This installation allows them to uphold the high standards of their alcohol-free beverages, while reducing their environmental impact to support their ESG goals and matching consumer demand. Now, Bevisol's drinks can be alcohol-free and carbon-free.
