Electron Green Powers Foodex Group’s Energy & Sustainability Goals with Solar Power

Foodex, the international food import and distribution company, is proud to announce the installation of a solar photovoltaic system at its facility near Bellusco. The project was led by Domenico Fumagalli, Italy Country Manager for leading solar developer, Electron Green Italy, in collaboration with Italian EPC partner Elementi Green. The installation is projected to supply a huge 90% of the warehouse’s total energy needs.

Electron Green specialises in rooftop solar, and partners with companies of all sizes, and landlords, asset managers as well as tenants to assess, prioritise, and plan solar programmes.  The objective is to make it easy to have solar, and this includes Electron Green fully funding rooftop solar systems linked to a Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). The approach is collaborative, ensuring that each installation benefits from an optimal funding structure, considering commercial, technical, and regulatory factors.

Since 1992, Foodex Group has specialised in importing and distributing Japanese food products for the Horeca sector and operates across Europe with 10 branches. Today, they supply over 10,000 clients with nearly 2,500 product lines.

Elodie Lecoffre, Country Manager Italy for Foodex Group, shared her perspective –

“Our company is committed to reducing our carbon emissions and energy costs. Thanks to Electron Green, we’ve achieved fixed energy prices that enable us to maintain stable costs for our clients over the next decade. For a business like ours, which relies heavily on energy for food storage, this partnership is invaluable.”

In 2021, the Lombardy branch launched an Energy System Research (RSE) department to reduce carbon emissions. This year, they expanded operations to a new facility. In line with their commitment to environmental sustainability, they partnered with Electron Green to install a photovoltaic system on the property. This project involved the installation of 722 high-efficient solar panels modules, each with a capacity of 415 watts, and the system will generate approximately 303 MWh of clean energy annual.

Gabriele Geroldi, CEO of Elementi Green, Electron Green’s EPC partner for the project, expressed his enthusiasm –

“We are delighted to be part of such an exciting initiative. The Foodex facility is highly energy-intensive and operates at temperatures as low as -20°C. Solar is an excellent solution, and we are proud to collaborate with Electron Green on this project.”

Domenico Fumagalli, Country Manager Italy of Electron Green, concludes –

“This project with Foodex Group is the first phase of a 1.7MW programme on the same building, and represents a significant step in our mission to provide sustainable, cost-effective energy solutions to businesses. Our flexible business models allow companies to stabilise energy costs, lower their carbon footprint, and achieve long-term economic benefits. This can work for everyone—the client, the operator, and the environment.”
